With the 5-speed it isn't necessarily horsepower you need to worry about its the torque.

According to dctfacts.com, the Getrag produced PS250 is equipped with Luk clutches and is rated to handle up 300bhp, no torque figures mentioned. This same model Powershift is also used in most 2009 up Volvos and also in the new Cmax and Kuga/Escape. There is a few different clutch options available for higher torque applications in the future. Good to know. It is a pretty robust and efficient transmission by most accounts as reviewed on different drivetrain sites.
And interesting side note, VW/Audi's group are slowly moving away from the wet clutch DSG and are now producing dry clutch DCTs which will soon see placement in future models.

I am curious to see if they will be able to keep the car from trying to downshift out of 4th gear during the pull, not having software to lock it in gear.

Afaik the DPS6 is only good for 250 N-m or around 184.4 lb-ft of torque. The wet clutch versions may have been rated up to 380 N-m, but those are not fitted to the 2.0L i4 gdi engine used in our Foci.

What I had to do was shift into 4th, get up to 2500, punch the throttle and re-shift into 4th. The car goes nuts because everything is open and the parking brake is on, all while the car is registering 100+mph. Poor car, it must have been scared.

Yeah, I always hated doing baseline pulls on cars that customers were not buying any software or tuning.
