clutch for 400+whp
i have been running the clutch master fx400 for the past 2 clutches but i seem to be having problems with the clutches failing on me. the first one was a 4 puck stage 4 and it some how while just normal driving not even in boost bent one of the tabs and popped the spring out of the center hub. so clutch masters told me to go with a 6 puck and they sold me one for cost. and this one with plenty of life left on the pads has wore out the center section that hooks to the springs in the hub in turn causing the clutch to sit off center and vibrate the hell out of my car. and its not even a year old. i never take the car to the track but i do enjoy my occasional spirited driving. so is anyone else having this kind of problems with their clutches and if not then what kind of clutches are you guys using?

My comp stage 5 sucked. Didn't make it past 8k miles (or something around there. I'd have to look again)

^^yeah even the CM stg 4 is better than that, Fernando made 608whp with the CM, believe is something else is causing your problem.

Yea I didn't have as much luck as Fernando with my stg 4 cm either tho. It started slipping at the track but it did last a long time.

ClutchMasters changes the fulcrum point to make the clutch easier to press , I think when they do this they are taking away from the psi plates ability to hold stronger and in turn shortens the life of the clutch
I have used them all and the CM4 seems to be the least of the worst , I would like to say the best but I cannot even at 331TQ I have to change mine about every 2.5 to 3 years Tom

im not having problems with the clutches slipping or wearing out. Mine seem to break. the first one the arm on the 4 puck actually bent during normal driving and this one the inner plate the attaches to the springs has wore out inturn allowing the inner plate to move around freely inturn throwing off the centering of the clutch causing a vibration. and both of these clutches have not lasted more than a year. both had plenty of life left on the clutch pads and all. And i am using a fidanza flywheel.

hell my stage 3 clutch did better than any of my stage 4 clutches did. My stage 3 cm clutch lasted like 2 years with 387whp.. but once i stepped it over the 400whp mark it just couldnt hold it any more and it started slipping and eventually burned up.. but the crappy part is it is so rare that i hit my 410whp power because i have a dual stage boost controller that i can change on the fly with a button i push. and most of the time i leave it at the 310whp mark which the stage 4 clutches should not have any problem with.
