Anybody else getting rid of their 2012 Focus to get a 2013 Escape?
I was waiting for the Focus ST and them KAPOW . . .Ford unveils the Escape. There was the 2.0L Eco-Boost I was looking for along with HID lighting and the one I was really wishing the ST had, AWD to allow that power to get to the ground. I suspended the orders for the ST and ordered an identical Escape that was built last week and being delivered about 9/3. I'm impressed with what I've read. The Escape appears to be identical, on the interior, to the Focus and has all the room and AWD I want. I hate to get rid of the 2012 Focus Titanium but am excited about the 2013 Escape.

I think the ST, given that it weighs significantly less than the Escape and the different tuning, will indeed be the "Focus on Steroids".
The reason I cancelled the ST order (and, don't get me wrong, I think it's a gifted piece of engineering) were that I wanted the AWD to get that power to the ground, along with the nearly doubled interior capacity and the ability to pull 3,500 pounds of motorcycle/bike trailer. It's nearly like, in terms of practicality, a "practical ST" for me. I intend to do the 2013 Cayman for sporting (and I've had some fun showing off the 2012 Focus at Porsche Club events) and the 2013 Escape for the daily driver. Ford is doing some really exciting things . . . I'm thrilled.

Yeah . . how cool is that? I gave it up because I wanted to the trailer towing package . . but Ford has REALLY been pushing it in their marketing. You will, Ford has held off until September to release the Escape marketing budget, be seeing MUCH more about the Escape and the rear hatch assist will figure prominently.

2013 Escape arrived . . . but I have to drive half way across the country to pick it up. I'm excited.
Bud took the ST I'd ordered, trying to get the first one in the USA, and LOVES it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ford has a couple, it appears, real winners on their hands. I'm eager to see how the performance of the Escape compares with the ST. The ST is tuned a bit differently for a couple more HP . . but the ESCAPE has the AWD that should give it an advantage if . . the Focus reaches the limits of being able to put that power to the ground. Either way . . . . for an American made, reasonably priced car . . . HOORAY FORD !

The Ford Focus ST is faster than the Escape, Power to Weight ratio! and for sure faster around corners. |
