My LiL Secret Exposed: Taillight Tinting with WINDOW tint
I know there were a few ppl who's been wanting to darken their taillights but are scared to do so but afraid it might turn dull or if they decide they dont want it anymore that they're stuck with it. Well ppl been asking me how I did my taillights because it didn't look dull because it was a TINT.
The window tint I get though is not a regualar type of window tint that you use to tint your windows but a static cling tint. It's a soft "InstaCling" tint that sticks plastic or windows, you can take it on and off. If you really want to try it it's around 10 bucks at Walmart, just make sure you get the "CLING" tint, you can open it and check if it's the soft rubbery film. ALl it takes is a lil cutting, playing, strtching and it should be fine. I also recommend getting the lil squeegy to take the bubbles and a sprayer with a lildish soap so u can reall smoothen it out. There's also a few grades of tint, the one I got was a 20% dark, I think it says grey, but that should work. If you need a pic of it on my car I'll try to look for a pic or need the actual box of the film, I know I still have them somewhere. Hope this helps. |

yes nightshade will come off with some laquer thinner.
If you do nightshade right it does not come out dull. And if you dont want it anymore there are people out there that want a set of tinted lights that would be more than willing to trade. id be worried about the static cling stuff, if your driving along and thw wind takes it off youe SOL untill you spend more time redoing it. Plus anyone could walk up and just pell it off.

I guess the pic didn't work, but there's a link there. Imagestation sucks... as for the "I'd rather do the nightshade"... Everyone is their own...I just like the Cling tint because I can take it off whenever I want to or decide I want the red back, which I have now. And no it wont fly out the freeway, I had it for almost 2 years... you just have to wet it and it dries on... Also I can find so many ways why I like this better
1. Easier to do: just apply and stretch cut... nightshade: spray wait dry spray, sand buff..well you know how it goes 2. Price...this is a lil cheaper and you can mess up and do it again you can do like 4 or 6 tails with it.... 3. Let's be realistic, not a lot of ppl can use nightshade the right way 4. Tinting taillights is illegal unless you have a reflector some place else. I got pulled over once, and I told the cop that it was a tint and he looked at it and even showed him if he wants I can pull it out, and he let me go. 5. Removal: nighshade can be removed but a PITA, but you can remove the tint with the taillights ON the car. 6. No matter what you do, the cling tint will always look shiney. |

Its all personal prefrance I know.
And tited tails have diffrant laws in diffrant states. In my home state all that is needed is seen 500ft away. I looked at the pics what wheels do you have? look like mine only in 17's not 18's

yes, that's right 17" velox vx8 -girlfriend got them for me for bday. I liked how the 18's look since the 17's look like 16's with the lip but I drag my car here and then and 18's just wont do. The 17's alone are heavy as it is. Those pics w/ tails was my old zetec, but I still had them on with the new car. I know I took pics of it close, but I have to look for it.

thats what i thought the VX-8's. Same as mine but an inch smaller. I like the 18's shows less rubber but 17s are more pratical.
