Strange Engine Noise

Hi. I just purchased a 2003 Focus ZX5. Drove home about an hour from the dealer ran fine. The next day the engine started making a noise almost like the sound of a Kazoo we had as kids or blowing into a soda bottle. I know thats a weird description but don't know how else to describe it. It doesn't change a lot when you rev the engine. Sounds about the same when driving as fast as 70 mph. Engine performs fine just that noise. I have no warrantee except a 3000 mile engine and drive line and I know it will probably cost me. So If I could have an idea what it might be it would be nice so I don't get hosed. I am 70 years old and have no way of getting under the car. Maybe there is an air pipe or vale on the car but I have no clue with all the new pollution stuff. Please help so I don't get a big bill for something small. Thanks, Dan

does it change with the a/c on or off? May be a a/c compressor issue.
Then again could be a lower end knock. hard to tell without a sound byte.

Is it more of a ticking or knocking noise? How many miles on the car? It could be lifters tapping.
