We did not check compression before we started. However, I should have time to do that on the new head tomorrow night, provided I can escape my kids' baseball and softball games long enough. I'll be sure to post up the results. Just curious... what should I be hoping to see on this?

Those compression numbers aren't bad. Ford actually says that the numbers are acceptable if there is less than 25% difference between the low and high - yours are very tight.

What's the mileage on your engine?

It has just under 101k

did you check to see if there are any codes stored in the ECU? even if the CEL is not on, there can codes flagged.

I will be curious to find out what the new lifters do.

There were no codes. I got the replacement lifters yesterday. They are used. They are very easy to compress. In comparison, the ones that are still on my old head, can't be compressed. Is it natural that they would be "softer" uninstalled? I'm going to try to get off work early today to get this done!

Hey how yall doin I'm new to the site and it seens you guys really know what you talking bout, I got a sohc 2001 se focus but I"m thining of doin some mods to the engine I know this is way off topic of this post but i was wondering if u guys could help me out on tellin me where i can find engine mods for it everywhere i look i only find dohc parts
