Still looking good !! Body shop here priced painting rear SVT bumper & the wing I got for $450 - $500 that's even if I prep it and remove the parts. Said it would take over a pint of paint just for bumper....also then sealer, paint & clear would be over $100 alone. Does this sound about right?

Yea I used to work at a body shop and to be honest its a pretty good price but to save some money you can remove the panels prep them yourself its a lil time consuming but it can save you a bunch of money.

I was quoted $300 last fall, for a euro bumper alone. Next week I'm going back to see what inflation did to that price.

Haha, I was quoted $350 from one shop here just to paint my RS wing. Obviuosly won't go to that shop since they are overpriced. Can get dealer to paint my euro rear for about $250 if I do some prep.

Keep up the good work on the car. Maybe take a break for a bit to get refreshed.

Car looks great on the new wheels!

Keep it up, I don't think it will matter if you have complete kits ready by SiF. People who want it will pay for shipping, and I bet there are a lot of people who want it!

oh there's no way I'd have complete kits ready for SiF anyways.....I was simply trying to get the fenders and wing molded by then so I could fix the damage on the wing from molding, and make/paint new fiberglass fenders for my personal car before SiF. My plan was to sell the OEM metal fenders for what I paid just so I could have proper molds since I got royally F'ed over buying the molds in the first place. It's made me very bitter, since if the molds had been correct in the beginning, the car would have been 100% finished LAST year and I'd have full kits already rolled out.

Instead, I wasted a WEEKS of time trying to splice the flare portion of the fiberglass fenders to the stock metal top halfs to attempt to get a proper-fitting fender to mold before I finally came across the REAL ones. I love the car, but this past year has really gotten me down about it. I've invested so much money on the notion that I'd make some of it back once I have complete molds and can sell some people RS conversion kits, but I'm less and less interested in helping other people acheive it. The amount of work I have put in at this point would have been my car done and 4-5 kits made for other people had those molds been correct when I bought them....which is a really discouraging thought. Instead of having broke even, I'm farther in the hole than I ever imaginged, and nowhere near being able to reproduce the complete kit yet. Part of me wants to just paint the OEM RS front fenders and say F everyone else, but I'm too far in to not finish making the molds.

There is a real possibility however, that I may finish the molds, finish the car, and put both up for sale seperately in hopes of breaking even and putting this whole ordeal behind me and move on to a different chassis/car.

Nick, the setbacks suck. I'm sorry to hear about your level of frustration with the swap job. If it helps at all I feel as though the RS swap you've done thus far is fantastic.

I say keep it up, finish it. Sell full kits make your money back then sell it all and move on. Then again as frustrated as you seem to be I would probably finish what I need to and sell it all just to get away from it.

Well, I blew off some steam, regrouped, and decided to press on and mold the passenger fender last night.

after tape-off, prep, and mold release:

after Gelcoat and multiple layers of fiberglass:

The reason you see blue tape in the layers along the edge of the wheel arch is because the fiberglass wouldn't stay in place over the rolled edge due to the orientation of the fender since I have molded it while it's mounted instead of on top of a table/bench....so I used the tape to hold the layers in place while they cure. I haven't pulled the mold off yet, probably won't have time to get it off until tomorrow morning.

This still no telling whether or not I'll finish by SiF, but I may just come down with the metal fenders mounted (still in primer) missing rub strips and stuff like that if I can't get all of that situated.
