[QUOTE=darkangelism;4190856]We can estimate drivetrain loss, but does it matter, the power at the wheels is more important.

is drivetrain loss that high on FWD?

assuming that ford is right about 160 at the crank stock and redfocz had 148 at the wheels, loss is only about 8%.

So crank HP would be 184.[/QUOT

When I had my car dynoed, it was a Mustang Dyno, same as the one Redfocus utilized. The operator that did my run told me 15%. I know it sounds like it shouldn't be that much but I'm assuming he knows it's his dyno.

Ford could be under stating the car's output. That doesn't mean the parasitic power loss from the flywheel to the tires is only 8%.

General rule of thumb for manual cars is to apply a 15% loss through the drivetrain. More for AWD vehicles or automatic transmissions (with tq converters).

I'd be interested in the Air Fuel ratios if that was possible.

yeah I have heard 15% as well, i just wasnt sure if FWD is different than RWD because of shorter distance to driving wheels.

The next guy on the rollers should see if they dyno operator can monitor the air fuel ratio.

These guys with intakes have to be careful. When in CL, the car can adjust the fuel trims to reach ideal fueling but once the car transitions into OL, it's blind as a bat. If you're introducing more air into the engine, you're not getting more fuel. Your only hope is the efficiency of DI engines and the quality of gas.

FSWerks installed and tested their CAI and Race Exhaust on my Fofo back in January. They ran it on the dyno before and after install. I called FSWerks today, and Vic told me that the results of those dyno runs, are the ones on the FSWerks website, under: Products by type-engine.

I was also told then that my 2L was definitely under rated.

Losses of only 12% aren't uncommon for fwd.

Here's a old dyno from the Type R as a comparison;still never topped the Focus' stock torque numbers but it was quite flat and the extra power didn't upset how it drove stock,it was just quicker.

I'm impressed with the gains I'm seeing on this thread and gives me hope in the future when a few simple things get thrown on;I'd like to see near 190 at the crank as the Type R came with 195hp stock and ran 14.7s.

I'm curious of the 1/4 mile numbers.
