2014 SE sedan front end noise help

I'm having a really hard time trying to say what I am hearing but it sounds like like a clank or a clink from both sides of my front end when going over things such as expansion joints or hard edge bumps (going at least 20 mph+) and its not consistent. When windows are up you don't hear it (or barely) and when the windows are down its quite a bit louder. It is by far easiest to hear when I am driving next to concrete barriers (construction zones) or any hard sound reflecting surfaces. I've read a whole bunch about other noises related to struts and well I do not believe it is this. About the closest I have gotten to reproducing the noise is when the car is parked if I pull on the metal retainer holding the front brake pads in place and release it makes a very similar noise. But Im having a hard time figuring out just how one would correct that issue if it is even that. Im taking it in on Friday for other things and well if they cannot reproduce the noise Ill have to go back yet again.

Has anyone heard this noise...maybe even corrected it too?

haha...yeah. been driving a 12 Focus (which has a DCT that works better than my less than 5k mile 14 Focus) while mine is in the shop and yeah... I have the numbers worked out and hopefully by next weekend this car will be gone. way too many quality issues and after seeing how badly the two year old one aged. *sigh* i thought i would give an american car a try and back to foreign it is... 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT to replace. lesson learned.
