The Gates is still working well for me - but then again, I got 125K miles off the original one.

O'Reilly had them locally for me.

I never had a problem with belt length, but I don't have records of what I went with (and the numbers aren't visible) - but as others have said - two different belts from the same manufacturer with the same part number can be slightly different lengths.

I suspect the properly configured tensioner will work with a range of belts.

Someone earlier posted that the 2115 mm belt worked fine for them.

I just bought a belt at Napa, so I'm thinking it was the 2134 mm - and it's worked fine for me.

O' Reilly lists the 2116 for cars with the 127 mm A/C pulley, the 2127 for the SVT, and the 2134 for other Zetec A/C cars (and the only Motorcraft belt they list is the 2134).

Short answer is probably if you can get the 2116 around the pulleys, it's your best choice, and if the 2134 doesn't "click" on startup, its okay, but you probably don't want to buy two belts and return the one you don't need.

I just bought all the good Gates parts from O'Reilly online since there is not one here close or locally.

The tensioner is the 'good one' and the belt was the shorter one - like 2116 or 2115, regardless, the belt was mofo tight and probably one of the biggest bugger of a belts I have ever installed...lots of colorful language going on there!!! LOL However, it's kickin a$$ and takin names!! All good, no clicking noises which of course is the tensioner slapping against the backstop because the belt is too long. The belt has stretched a bit which is normal and there have been no issues with it jumping at idle or startup. Far as I can see at this point, problem solved! Just wish my local AutoZone could carry the better parts like O'Reilly...

Now, if I could keep my daughter from sideswiping my dually in the driveway...now I gotta replace the passenger front fender...rebuilding this car one panel and part at a time...

This thread has been active for quite some time. I got a Dayco belt tensioner today from advance auto parts and the design looks slightly different from the broken tensioner pics that were posted early in the thread. The plastic center is now much smaller in diameter and the surrounding metal is much wider. Lookes like it was redesigned to avoid the problem with them breaking apart. Hopefully it will hold up.

UPDATE: 5 months, crapped another belt...

Had all the good parts, both Gates, belt shredded and made one hell of a mess yet again. Wrapped up so badly behind the water pump pulley bell had to disassemble that and take an hour to get all the pieces cleaned out. FUN FUN...NOT...

I am soooooo over this car, told my daughter we just need to throw a stick of dynamite in it and call it a day. This is now 8+ belts shredded in less than 2yrs. Gotta be something wrong but damned if I can figure it out. Nothing binding, pulleys all in alignment and best tensioner and belt. Thought I had it licked after the last go around, but only lasted 5mo and a week. Throwin in the towel, putting yet another belt on, tensioner seems undamaged and telling her to unload this POS asap cause I am NOT fixing this pile o junk one more time.

This mess took me about 2hrs to disassemble pulleys, clean out all the debris and then put on yet another new belt.

When its just a light shred and R&R I have gotten so I can do the entire evolution in 45min or less...

Cool part is she traded in this POS two weeks ago for a 2004 Toyota Rav4, a much better vehicle IMO. No more Fords for this family. :-)
