Appearance: $2,530
Ruby Red: $395
Reverse Sensing System: $240
Total MSRP: $23,255

My SEL Premium stickered for only $23,085 AND has the following additional that the '13 SE replacement wouldn't have:

Dual Zone Auto Climate Control
Rain Sensing Wipers
Chrome Belt Line

That my friends is what's called a BAD DEAL!!!! So glad I have my '12.
To think how much cheaper it'd be without the DCT ;)

You couldn't even build an analog to my car without giving up the disk brakes, the chrome belt line molding, dual zone climate control, power/heated/signal/puddle mirrors, etc, taking color out of the equation you still couldn't get the cloth interior with the automatic climate control since it requires the appearance package. I see you were deducting the amount listed as a discount, but who's to say that it wasn't already factored into the "msrp" for the options package, but either way there's no more option for the stone leather either.

What do you mean? You have an SEL, same as me. Disc brakes would come in the Appearance Package if you had to replace it. I mentioned giving up the dual zone and chrome belt line. I guess I forgot about the mirror signals.

My understanding is that mirror signals will be standard on all SE trim cars.

If you guys think the new prices are bad compared to a 2012 SEL, you should try comparing them to a 2012 SE Sport. The one I ordered is loaded (203A, sport and winter packages, premium paint and wheel upgrade) and it still stickers for at least $2k less than the most "equivalent" 2013 build. Of course, the 2013 adds leather, ambient lighting, some more black trim, and a few other goodies - but the point is, it seems as if the car won't be quite the deal it once was.

Of course, before long Ford will probably start discounting packages and offering incentives - but I'm just glad I got my 2012 order in when I did (happened to be on 5/7 - apparently the last day?).

I have an SEL yes, but mine is an base SEL hatch with winter package as the only option. The appearance package forces leather, and in 2013 that means getting the Charcoal black leather with red accents vs the Medium light Stone Cloth interior. The nearest analog is over 2k more but bundles the premium package from 2012 for some of the features but loses the ones I cared about.

I didn't want leather, I didn't want the 17" wheels, I don't want MFT.

What I wanted was the winter package for the heated seats, mirrors and the rubber floor mats as it gets quite cold here and shifting some of the heating load to the electrical system would draw less heat from the engine when it has less heat to give during those short commutes. The medium light stone seating surfaces in the SEL pattern feel very nice, but are also reflecting more of the heat and staying cooler than the black seats I had in an old (2003) Crown Victoria which didn't have functioning a/c.

The SEL came standard with MF+Sync, same as the 2013 SE sure, but the auto climate control requires mft in 2013. The roads are bad here, and I didn't care for the specific 17" wheels from the premium package but those carried over to the SE Appearance package.

Again you could build something closer to what you had as you opted for the premium package in 2012, but for someone who wanted only a few of the features rather than the other features it looks like a bad deal to me.

The 2013 SE 201a hatch with the appearance package and winter package would be right round 24k (on the high side of 24k) vs the 22170 sticker price for my build configuration ('12 SEL P3M hatch 300a winter).

Yeah I guess you're right. Another thing I forgot though that you can't get at all on the SE is all 1-touch windows. Only available on the Ti. I love that feature.

I see what you mean now.

The former SEL Premium 17" wheels go to the Titanium. The SE Appearance gets the 5-spoke wheels.

By the way, how fast do you type?

Yeah, I was just thinking today how I hate that those are limited to the Ti's. It's gotta cost next to nothing to make them one-touch, but I guess it's a way of making the Ti more "premium."

IMO, at the very least, both front seats should be one-touch standard in the SE.
