Hey gang,

Just a reminder: if any of you are experiencing these paint chipping issues, please reach out to me via PM if you haven't already done so. I'll need your VIN, estimated mileage, preferred servicing dealer, and your daytime phone number so I can get things escalated up to the regional Customer Service Managers.

Thanks!
-Crystal

Everything is settled for me now. I ended up letting the body shop take care of the paint, and I fixed the tail light myself. It would have been nice if the tech at the dealership did what he said he would, but now I know not to let him touch my car again. Still love my focus, its a pretty great car.

Took the car in yesterday for my dealer to look at. They took the pictures, sent them in to Ford and today they said I could have it repaired. Great! Given that my chip is small (right now) they gave me 2 options. 1) Send it off to a body shop and that entire panel would re-painted. 2) Re-move the light, touch up the paint, install a new light that won't do this again!

I am going to try option 2 ... primarily because it is a small chip (caught it early) and I don't want my car in the shop 2-3 days or whatever it would take otherwise. My fingers are crossed the new tail light will be better. Though, they could likely use the old tail light and just give it a tiny bit more clearance...

So far so good in regards to the responsiveness of Ford and my dealership!

Seems like everyone needs to check both the rear and front lights, I had the problem on the rear which I fixed myself with washers under the pin, the fronts both have the same problem. I adjusted the hood stops (turn counter clockwise just a little). you can check the fit by seeing if a folded piece of paper slides aroung in the gap and body without binding.
The wear was slight (caught early) since the primer was not damaged just the paint, I left it alone.

I did not PM Ford, I'm still waiting for a returned call on my mic/phone issue. Do not have much faith getting either issue fixed.

Hey there, riparke,

I'm happy to step in and help with your tail lamp/paint chipping issue. Just shoot me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and daytime phone number; I'll get the gears turning on my end.

Regarding mic/phone issues: check in with FordIVTTeam for any inquiries pertaining to in-vehicle technology. Jaclyn will help you out there.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!
Crystal

I'm pretty fed up with the lousy service I've recieved from the current dealer and Ford taking their side on the issue. The damage to the hood due to the misalignment has been there from day one and they refuse to repair it on the basis that they believe the car was hit by something when there is no physical evidence to support that claim on the hood or front fender. I liked the way the car drives, but I'm sorely disappointed in how worthless the warranty and service plan have been when I've had issues with the car.

I don't have time to keep leaving work every day and hound different dealers until the car is repaired.

Out of curiosity ... did your dealer even submit photos to Ford Warranty, or did they give resistance from the get go?

Fortunately for me (so far) my dealer has been pretty understanding/willing to help.
