What did K&N say about it? Cause I was confused with this as well...

So here's my question.... if the K&N setup reuses the stock MAF, then what's the point? The necked down inlet flange on the stock MAF is the restriction. Otherwise it's just like taking your box top off and popping in a K&N element.

Send troy-knfilters a PM. K&N is shipping a heat shield to me.

The point is a 10hp and 10lbs-ft torque gain. The elbow smooths the airflow, and there's a heat shield. The stock box w/o lid will let engine heat right in. The kinks and ripples in the stock rubber tube can't be doing much for airflow.

Every intake available for our car so far reuses the stock MAF. There hasn't been enough done with our ECMs yet (that I know of) to start swapping out parts like that. Trust me, this is nothing like popping in a K&N drop-in.

The Steeda doesn't, but it also doesn't replace the tubing/elbow.

The Steeda DOES reuse the stock MAF. Now if you're talking about stock MAF HOUSING, that's different.

Apologies, yes the housing is what I was referring to.

The "necked down inlet flange" that PowerSurge was referring to is in the MAF housing.
