I noticed that the MAF seated poorly against the aluminum too. I haven't had any vibration issues from it so far though. I also had to cut away some at the powdercoating on the 90 degree plastic angle. It wouldn't seat properly otherwise.

For anyone else buying, you have to take a piece off the factory hose and fit it to the K&N aluminum pipe. It's a PITA to get out of the hose. I actually cut myself trying. BE careful, cause I slightly bent my piece (it's plastic).

Other than those few things, the intake works wonders. I've definitely noticed some pickup in the 2500 to 5500 range. The noise is great. It does drone a bit at highway speeds. My MPG went up by around 3. In fact, driving back from DC the weekend after I got it, I was getting 45 MPG for a bit.

How hard was it for you to mount the "hump" hose to the MAF, BTW?

No issues with that on mine. Trimming the seal shouldn't pose a problem, but be sure to try reseating it before cutting into it.
I had a hard time with the "Hump Hose" as well, it was a bit ridiculous. Then getting the plastic piece off of the factory hose was a good time too, I used a small flat head screwdriver, it made it a lot easier to get it off the factory piece. I have a little over 1500 miles on my kit now. I get 32-33 MPG going to work everyday (hilly) and when I go on long trips I get 37-40 MPG depending on traffic and my frustration level. I don't notice any drone at highway speeds though, mine is pretty quiet when cruising. I only hear it when I accelerate. Maybe its because I am young. I am gonna try to make a run to the dyno. My results will be different though, because I have a FSWerks Race Exhaust now (its not loud to me either, could be louder).

If by hump hose you mean the hose that connects the MAF to the aluminum body, then yea it was a pain too. REALLY tight fit. Took a little elbow grease, but once I was able to actually get the damn thing on, properly seating it was easy.

LOL, I really want to get a new exhaust too, but the bank account is hurting a bit lately. Hopefully soon though.

Glad to hear so many people like their FSWerks exhausts. I'm thinking of going with the stealth. I just want a little burble. Not anything too loud.

I'm also frustrated cause every picture of exhausts I see on here look kinda dumb without a proper hole in the rear bumper. I don't want my exhaust just hangin below the bumper, but I also don't want to cut a hole for it. Quite a dilemma.

I'm thinking doing an exhaust first since I think the better sound and looks will pay off better than an intake right now or maybe just a drop in. 17"s,better rubber, better floormats and tint are first then see if I can slip something else by my wife.

So I got mine installed just now. It does add a real growl to the car and may be to loud for some. I like it, makes the Focus sound mean.

Took about 90 minutes to install (I've never done something like this) and the only issue I had was lining up the cold air plate and the heat shield. The hump hose is a tight fit over the MAF but I needed nothing more than a little elbow grease to get it on there.

I don't think the FSWerk Race Exhaust is loud, but it does drone when I going up a hill. I am probably going to throw down some Dynomat to see if that is gonna help the drone. I think to make the dual exhaust tip to blend in with the bumper is gonna take a bit of work. But I think it looks great, its such a pretty exhaust tip. I used some latex gloves when I installed the tip, so fingerprints wouldn't get on it.

I think the Stealth Exhaust will probably give you the burble you are looking for though.

After looking at this again, I think this was definitely a mistake by the K&N design team. It just so happens that if you line up the MAF housing on the back side of this plate, as if the plate was being mounted in the vehicle backwards, the MAF housing is perfectly centered in this hole.

I don't like it. The point here is to have the MAF housing "suspended" in this hole by the rubber mountings. The way the hole is cut, the MAF is forced against the bottom edge of the hole, and the "suspension" effect is negated.

I don't have any pictures, but I didn't seem to have that issue with mine. Got it installed yesterday and the growl from this thing is ridiculous! It's actually louder than my exhaust at times. But the butt dyno says it's awesome. Low end gain is very noticeable, and when you really get on...sweet...
