But this doesn't interrupt the circuit, which is why they say disconnect the negative. So if this is the case, disconnecting the ground simply means the system is ungrounded.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. As an electrical engineer...I'm quite ashamed of myself right now...

For some reason it never occurred to me that a car battery is grounded to the car....

not to be a skeptic of claimed power increases (ok I am), but was the K&N intake tested with the hood open or closed? For an open intake, this means night and day difference. From what I understand other manufactures (FWerks and Steeda) test with the hood open and the fan in front of the car. This renders these results meaningless. I don't know anyone who drives with their hood removed to allow full flow of ambient air.

I agree in part with you, but we have to agree that it has to have some sort of air "pushed" to the engine (getting into the car), because in the test the car is "static", doesn't move and doesn't get all the air would get in real life, as the speed goes up. So, I would not say the tests are that biased (no more than the usual 10%). IMHO.

Of course the hoods were open and air was pushed in...

That's how it works when you are actually driving.

Seeing as how there isn't a dyno that reads power when you are actually driving, they all have to do this with static dynos.
