What do you modded guys here do when dmv needs a smog to renew registration?

So I have an 06 hatch and when I renew my registration this year Iam pretty sure I have to get a smog test. My car is not modded yet but I did have plans of swapping to manual and adding a cai, exhuast and cams and then maybe headers. But then when I remembered the stupid smog laws here it kinda killed it lol. So what do you modded guys do when you need to pass smog before they let you renew?

swapping to a manual is not illegal, the cai, exhaust, and cams may put you over, but if you go back to stock intake and exhaust for the test, i think you might be able to get by.

Yea I know about the manual not being illigal. The cai would not really be a problem ether it would just suck to have to remove the cams and exhuasts and put a stock tune back on to get smogged. Sucks because I love my focus so much and with a little more power it would be even better (after suspension mods ofcourse).
