Letters about this FSA will be mailed out to all VIN's affected the 21st of this month from Ford. Or you can just go to the dealer and have them bring it up on the computer for you.

I've not seen any letter yet, but having gone to the ETIS.ford.com page and saw the recall, should people be proactive and call them before anything gets sent out?

I 'understand' first model year bugs. My 2001 Focus had them. BUT...to say "they are to be expected" is not a fair statement. This car is a 'world' car...and has been tested and sold elsewhere. I've owned a couple of vehicles that were 1st year new models (not MCR's...mid-cycle refresh) that didn't have bugs. Some manufacturers test and retest and get it right out of the box.

To say "it's possible" is accurate. To say "it is to be expected" seems extreme.

Ditto, I agree 100%, I didn't mean to sound like a prick. I do feel like saying "It's VERY possible" would be the most accurate. There are a few manufacturers that rarly have problems with 1st year new models, but they DO happen and they DO get fixed. I appologize for coming off as the bad guy, just stating what I beleive to be the truth.

The intention of that statement is to encourage you to make an appointment for service in a timely manner after receiving the letter.

It sounds to me like this FSA is to appeal to the "common driver" who may not understand the way the DCT works, to make the transmission act more like an automatic. I had a couple of issues with the way it worked originally, more to do with the laziness of the shifts, more than anything, but, since doing the TSB on the transmission, I have enjoyed driving even more. I enjoyed the feeling of being like a manual transmission, including the rollback. My car has hill assist, so I don't get too much of the rollback, but enough to keep the guy behind me away if I gave it a little roll....Dumb question, is hill assist on all DCT's? or just the SEL and Titanium?

So, what's the real reason for this FSA?
