You should not be serving alcoholic drinks in your Focus!

"a motor car with enclosed seating space for driver and at least three passengers."

Mine shows as 5 door saloon.

Okay. I forgot to even ask about this when i took my focus to the dealer this morning. Guy just called and said they applied a new recall to the "PCM and the ABS modules" his words. Leaving now to go get the car so i'll ask if he knows any more on exactly what it fixed.

Well, the service guys were both busy with people so I didn't get to ask exactly what they did. Here's what my service sheet says about it (Apparently it was also a TCM program):

Could this be the DCT TSB 12-1-4 upgraded to a recall?

The customer letter reads:

"You may experience rough or jerky automatic transmission shifts. In addition, the vehicle may experience rollback when the driver is transitioning from the brake pedal to the accelerator while on a slight incline. Ford has developed calibration improvements to the Powertrain Control Module, Transmission Control Module, and the Anti-Lock Brake module to address these concerns."

This sounds more like a DCT change than an ABS change though I guess there could be some involvement with the ABS system. Could this be the long awaited fix to the most glaring DCT problems of jerkiness and rollback?

The DCT and brakes work together to simulate a standard torque converter transmission. Shown at 1:35........

Boo, I liked the rollback when i swapped pedals! Made it feel more like a manual... The rough/jerky auto shifts (I assume it has more to do when shifting at really low speeds) fix is good. Since I got the work done today ill try and drive around tomorrow and see if I notice any real difference.

The reprogramming of the ABS module is part of the fix for the rollback problem.

Regarding the "rough or jerky" operation of the DCT, the new calibration may be a further refinement of the previous "upgrade". Many people (myself included) don't have any issues so I'm not sure about this. Hopefully this will improve the DCT operation for those that do have problems.

It would be good to hear from some comments from those that have had this done, especially those that were not happy with their transmission.
