No I just cut the hole in the plastic thing. So it draws in air from the grille too. It still the the snorkel the takes air to the filter.

oh ok. i was thinking of cutting off that piece and basically building a ramp like thing going from the grill to the snorkel

You don't want to take air away from the radiator. You could always do it like this though, I saw at the ohio focus meet last month.

i know bryan did that. i don't know how he cut perfect pieces of plastic but it looks good. i think i'm going to do this. is there any downsides to this aftermarket filter mod? i have a used 'poweradder' filter i got for free but i'd need a coupler to connect it.

that looks cool, if i did it i would only do it the width of the snorkel opening so it wouldn't take all the air away from the radiator

Actually that's a piece of aluminum he covered with CF. i have a hacked up ZX3 front buper dustin gave me to fix my bumper I could cut a piece off to do that.

that's a good idea. i like what the dude did on the svt. if i did something like that, maybe with closed sides, would that be fine for the radiator?

You have chance to get more hot air to the filter if it's open like what I did. Which is why I left in the snorkel and I plan to make some aluminum walls for the back side sometime.

probably but it make take away air that comes in under the hood for both the engine and intake. I dunno....
