Ok went to check out the car today and took a few things off the old motor. I also pulled all four plugs to see if infact it was a valve seat. The number four plug was smashed but all the chambers are clean and intact. The rod must have boke off on the fourth piston and smashed the plug. Any how. Here a pic of it sitting among others waiting to get worked on.

Do you have anything to drive in the mean time? It might be worth your while to do a Zetec swap yourself so you don't have to deal with the SPI again.

No, I have a ranger but the trans is out of it. I'm car pooling for work right now. We need this back really bad. My wife and I share it and she also has school 4 days a week and works the weekends. She's getting rides with a classmate and her mom let her use her car for work. But it's brand new and she is keeping resterictions on it.

Well my mechanic finally came to his senses. He called ne today in shock of spi prices. He said he talked to a junk yard he usually does buisness with and they told him if I plan on keeping the its ideal to swap in the dohc because the sohc is junk. Not only that the dohc is a dime a dozen cause nobody can sell them cause they just don't go bad. So now he researching what's involved to swap in a zetec. He won't listen to me when I tell him its just engine wire harness and cpu. Because for some reason the junk yard told him that the trans had to be swaped out too. So he won't listen to me, cause I don't know what I'm talking about. Although I told him I wanted a zetec to begain with.

Imagine that.

Yes the transmission is the same damn it..... I know YOU know, but wtf though I understand. He just needs to make sure the pilot bearing is removed if it ends up being from a manual. but it really shouldn't, it should be from an 02 automatic along with the wiring harness. Zetec passenger mount BRACKET too if I'm not mistaken. even the coil still works for the zetec.
