Dyno App Results. Too good to be true?

I used an app on my Iphone called PocketDyno+, it's a paid app if that means anything to anyone. $12 but I downloaded it a long time ago for use with my old car.

It recorded pretty accurate results on my old car compared to actual dyno numbers when I finally got it on the dyno. It was within 3whp and 4tq.

Well here is my stock in App results:
HP @ the wheels 130.1
60' 2.70 seconds
330' 6.98 seconds
1/8 10.55 @ 70.49 mph
1000' 13.60 seconds
1/4 16.21 @ 86.57
0-60 8.03 seconds

In App results with FSWerks intake and exhausts:
HP @ the wheels 157.3
60' 2.53 seconds
330' 6.54 seconds
1/8 9.81 @ 77.28 mph
1000' 12.58 seconds
0-60 6.50 seconds

So to debate, temps around the same, time of day around the same, mileage on first run was around 1200, mileage now 7500. Could an intake and exhaust gain an increase of 27hp? I don't think so. Do the stock numbers compare to stock numbers elsewhere? Anyone else try an app like this? Post your results and discuss.

I don't think you would get that much of an increase.... which poses my question of how does it work? is it just using the accelerometer in the phone?

That being said though, I see redfocz has run his stock on a dyno with 148whp so your second run may be more accurate.

Ya you have to calibrate the accelerometers before each run. Also, redfocz dyno was with the 5mt, the 6speed auto dynos lower.

ah my mistake.....

if these are anything like what I think they are, they give you a ton of gears for an automatic but they put the emphasis on torque. Sounds mostly accurate... at least for $12 you get a fairly good idea.

The resolution of the accelerometer and the accuracy of the initial conditions will effect the results greatly. I wouldn't put a lot of trust in the results.

There are purpose made tools that do much the same thing but with better components.

True, but don't you think the company would have some sort of algorithm for determining accuracy to estimate numbers?

Also, anyone know of the stock 0-60 etc from a 2012 Focus Review? or stock hp from a 6-spd 2012?

the 0 to 60 looks about right, maybe a little too fast, motor trend had it at 8.3 and car and driver had it at 8.1

I just found a free dyno app on Android called "aDyno". I haven't tried it yet but I figure it cant't hurt because it's free.
