can't believe time it takes to get car

I ordered a 2014 titanium on June 18th. I was told it would take about 8 weeks to get car. Checked with dealer today and he indicated it isn't scheduled to be build until the week of Sept 22nd. He checked with ford rep for explanation as to why it was taking so long but rep is out of office until Thursday. Hopefully they can get it moved up sooner. I've ordered a number of vehicles in last 20 years and none of them has ever taken that long.

It would appear that as a combination of factors is occurring.

It is possible that your dealer did not have an allocation for the car you ordered, which would delay the order.

It is also possible that your dealer did not issue your retail sold order with a priority of 10 or close to this which is the highest a Ford dealer can assign, the lower the priority the longer it can sit in the que before being picked up and scheduled.

My thought is that likely your dealer told you 8 weeks on the basis of that being their typical time from order to delivery, but that assumes they can get the car they ordered in the first place.

That seems kind of late.

Yeah, that does seem LONG. I ordered mine about April 15th 2012 and picked it up on May 25th 2012 so a little less than 6 weeks. It does suck waiting but getting exactly the car you want is worth the wait -- unless it's 12 weeks...

Usually yes.

Here is what I could find about this year.

This.
I had this happen to me with Ford before. I waited and waited and it ended up it was the dealer didn't have the allocation.
I cancelled, went to another dealer and got it in about 4.5 weeks.
I wasted 5 weeks waiting before i switched dealers.

From what I see on other Ford forums, Michigan Assembly is taking three weeks of downtime in August, which would severely impact your order's ability to get scheduled. That could very well be the reason.

orders for the 2014 model year ended a while ago. your going to have to wait for the 2015 model year production to ramp up, create a supply for dealers, and then they will make yours. Also at this point it will be a 2015 focus, which there are many changes for 2015 so if you wanted a 2014 you're stuck with what's on dealer lots at this point.
