Will A Dealer Buy My Car Back?

When I purchased my SE a few months back, I was in a pickle and needed a car right away. So when I went with a '13 hatch, I didn't really have any say in deciding which features came in the car. It was just like a "this is what we have in stock, take it or leave it" situation.

So as a result, my hatch was pretty much a base model S with a few added features (winter package, phone/bluetooth capability, for example).

Had I had a little more time, I would have hand picked a car that had fog lights, sunroof, Sirius XM, etc. All these perks I had in my old Escape which I am now dearly missing.

The car has roughly 1900 miles on it, its practically brand new. I added a few aftermarket parts (intake and window shades) and had the windows tinted, but nothing that can't be undone.

My question is this: If I were to walk into a different dealership, would there be any possible way of doing a straight up swap for something that has the actual features I would have wanted in the first place? I intended on keeping the hatch for 5, 6, 7 years but at this point I'm starting to kick myself for not demanding those factory add-ons in the first place.

Hopefully someone out there has felt the same way or has some idea as to whether dealer's do this sort of thing.

There's not a chance. Even with only 1900 miles on it, your car is used, and its value will reflect that if you trade it for a new model.

Yep. Your car loses value the second you drive it off the lot :( Kind of sucky that way.

When the ink hit paper on the dotted line, that's when the value loss starts. Sorry. Unless you "know" someone who has a real good "in". Yeah just kidding, but hopefully you won't take that big of a hit.

Alright, well I guess I'll have to keep modding and appreciate what i've got! I definitely love the MPGs i'm getting, just about double what I was getting in the ol' 3.0L Escape :)

I see you did a custom exhaust? Now that I'll definitely be keeping this hatch for a while, might as well go all out. As far as price, how does a custom job compare to, say, a magnaflow or borla that I can just buy online? Is it markedly cheaper to do a custom job?

Next time you will take a bit more time to decide.
Rent a car if you have too.. for a week.

I am old and have bought a bunch of new cars.
At this point I will NOT buy a car which does not have EXACTLY the important things I want.
I learned just like the op that accepting somethin less will leave me (you) burned for YEARS...
So i make certain I will only buy exactly what i am looking for. My fav dealer seems to hate me, as the will not even try to sell me a car, knowing I will only buy the exact car i want, not whatever chunk they are pushing..

If it would have been a used car and you wanted to move up to a better car they might be more inclined.
But a new car is just not new anymore once you sign for it.

This is good advice. Its not that I hate the car itself, actually quite the opposite. I love it so far, I just wish it had more of the creature comforts i'm used to. I guess over time I will bite the bullet and buy the things that are missing.
