Can we turn off the DRL ?

The DRL is a thorn in my side
I have been to the drive in movies and sometimes want/need to start the car during the movie but the day time running turn on automatically
My last car if you engaged the parking brake it would not turn them on
I figure there has to be a way but couldnt find anything in the owners manual

It's a Canadian requirement or fleet option.

My 05 was mis-built and came with DRL's. Took awhile but we tracked down the right relay and yanked it from the main box and got rid of them. It's been laying in the glove box for the past 8-9 years.

That was one thing I liked about the VW Golf I rented was the driver could turn on and off the DRL with the stalk on the column.

I put a towel over my headlights when I go to the drive-in. Less than ideal, but it works.
