Custom Headlight

So i got around this weekend to take apart my headlight assemblies,by heating the plastic housing to the point the glue gets soft. This kind of disassembling I recommend that you know what your doing because I did have some trouble on the 2012 focus, Most other Vehicles I've done in the past were quite easy heat them, pull the tabs and pull apart. For the focus i had to get the "FACTORY" glue off both the clear lens and the main housing and i used MT-44 Low Viscosity Polyurethane Windshield Glue to seal it back together.

With this kind of dissembling you can install custom HID retrofit kits or just Paint the insides for a custom look.

What i did to mine was i Duplicated the Black Titanium Headlight housing by getting all the chrome out of it and i night shaded the orange reflectors. looks nice. My SE had the Chrome headlights and my dealer wanted to charge me $700 for a pair of titanium headlights

Would love to tint my reflectors. I've never done this before, would you recommend against me trying this out if it's particularly difficult on this car?

Ive heard of people doing this before, you put the headlights in the oven and let the glue soften. Then pull them apart.

The big danger is not sealing them up properly, then you'll have a bunch of moisture in your housing.

You're probably the first in the forum to open the headlights. Great job! Maybe you wanna be the first to retrofit them with projectors? :)
