Exhuast Upgrade! (Borla or Magnaflow?)

Well... since I can't afford to buy a new car or trade in for a manual, I suppose I have to deal with what i have! It is time for an upgrade to the exhaust system and I would like to hear opinions of anyone who would like to chime in!

I am pretty torn between these two brands of exhaust. Magnaflow seems really great and so does Borla. Fswerks and flowmaster are out of the running based off of the "burn in" and "1 year later and my exhaust is too loud" threads.

I don't think I have heard a Borla exhaust on a MK3 focus yet. I have seen custom videos. What does a typical Borla exhaust sound like? Similar to Magnaflow?

Thanks ladies and gents!

Borla is typically a quiet exhaust with a smooth tone. Magnaflow is pretty similar. That being said it also depends on the design you go with and how many mufflers/resonators you have on the car.
I have a custom stainless set up that utilizes a 20" resonator and a magnaflow (Camaro style muffler) that ends with a dual center out with resonated tips(factory corvette 2 1/4"). It is relatively quiet at idle and has a nice deep throaty tone while driving. The internal resonance is minimal(my wife doesn't complain about it).

I think the borla is a bigger diameter piping than the magnaflow(which is close to stock). I have the magnaflow and i think it is perfect, especially if you arent looking for something loud.

If you're talking about the cat-back systems and not custom work, the Borla is just a little more raspy (in a good way). Very few have run it, though many have run the Magnaflow. I really haven't heard any complaints about either, other than the Magnaflow not being aggressive enough for some people. Both of them are 2.25" systems and look like they're put together well.

I'm probably going with the Borla, though I wouldn't mind the Magnaflow. Search for 140400 in this forum and you should find some sample video's.

I've been doing a lot of research into these two recently and actually tried ordering the Borla yesterday. Unfortunately they tried pushing back the delivery date until after ff, which unfortunately wouldn't work for me. The only 2.5" systems available are FSWerks.

The FRPP is supposedly a rebranded Borla...

Well I somewhat recall someone having a 3" cat-back. I thought it was a borla.... but then again, I barely remember what I did yesterday....

Focusboy made a custom 3" for his car and Injected is working on a 3" setup to bolt in. Outside of that, all of the custom setups are running 2.5".

Both are great choices... Like the previous posts said, Borla will be a little bit louder when u go WOT, Magnaflow is a little more mellow but still sounds mean at WOT. I have custom 2.5" Magnaflow cat back and have no complaints... Decisions decisions...

I went with the Borla!!!

Just ordered it! Figured I would try to stick out in this sea of Focuses!

It was cheaper than magnaflow whilst still having a good reputation.

Got it on Amazon for 624 with Free two-day shipping (thanks amazon prime).

I was trying to work with AutoAnything to try and have them match the deal, which they did, but they wouldn't match the two day shipping.

I will update with some vids/pics whenever it does get installed since the information/vids on this exhaust is a bit sparse. Thanks for your help everyone!
