Im curious if making it out of aluminum will increase noise from the engine noise due to the noise reflection of the aluminum over the carpeting. Im assuming they used carpeting as a slight airflow tradeoff for added engine dampening.

For the front we are going to get rid of the carpet. I will test it for noise and MPG.

Is it just cost? Does it cause a build up of heat? Is it more likely to snag something on the road?
cost probably, wouldnt be surprised if the ST has one as an option.

Maybe it's just so that the ST has something to market - I always wondered why the Kia Forte Koup had the diffuser, but not the 4 door.

I was hoping for the winglets and a slightly flatter look, have it extend past the rear bumper some. The rounded/matching shape is cool, but I was expecting more of a look like the picture you previously posted.

We are going to do the winglets soon. I didn't post the pic earlier. We made it as flat as possible but the lunch box was in the way. We fastened it the only way we could. There is no chance that we will extend it past the bumper due to the way it fastens. We did the front piece last night and I will have pictures for that one after noon.

Interesting design ... too bad you had to work around that enormous lunch box. I'm curious to know if that 1mpg you observed stay's consistent. It makes sense that it would. I've ordered my FSWERKS Stealth exhaust, so the $ for mods is running low. That said, I am interested, just not right off. What were you considering for a cost (just ballpark)?

Also ... I'd be even more interested in swapping out the front piece (it really is more like a peice of carpet / felt than anything else). When you mentioned sound testing ... hmmm, good point. If the new aluminum piece introduces too much noise, why not coat the side facing the engine w/ plasti dip (or something else that'd have sound damping properties but would more heat resistant)?

I will be installing the front today. The price for the rer is $250 + shipping. I guess I did post that picture. We are going to put the winglets on today or tomorrow. With the front we will also make it out of thicker aluminum for those who want it smooth and a skid plate.
