does anyone know if there is a way to have your fog lights come on automatically when your headlights turn on?

is it really that big of a deal to put your foglights on manually?

Welcome to the "world car". In certain countries, it's illegal to have your fog lights on when there's no reason to. Ford decided to make it so that they go off when you leave the car, and only turn on when you want them to. The highbeams are the same... by default, always off when you start the car.

So it's intentional by Ford. Quite nice really. I think I tried my fog lights once in a snow storm, but it didn't help. Otherwise, no point in adding more lights to oncoming drivers since fogs aren't pointed down the way lowbeams are. Nor do they improve visibility on the road. Factory HIDs would have been nice.

I also wish the fogs could be set to come on with the headlights. I always forget to turn them on at night. I drive on rural roads a lot, so the more light, the better. My MINI Cooper was the same. You had to manually turn them on each time you started the car.

This isn't quite what you're looking for but....

I park in a garage, so my lights come on every time I start my car. When I start it up I press the fog light button. I've found that even when the lights go off and come back on later it remembers that the fogs were on and will turn them on automatically. It's become a habit that I turn them on every time now, I don't even realize I do it anymore.

Now that's interesting. You should post it in the Tips & Tricks thread!

Might be good work-around for those who park underground or in a garage, but doesn't apply to me. I had a similar issue with my MINI sport button. MINI/BMW had set the default to turn the sport mode off when the engine was turned off. So I had to set a routine when I got in the car: press start button, put on seat belt, press sport button. Kind of a PITA, but the sport button made all the difference with my six speed. Someone did come out with an aftermarket fix that changed the default, but I never had the nerve to mess with the electrical system in the car.
