As usual, the 2012 owners are left to the curb.

I was going to say something as soon as it was posted, but I've been rather negative lately.
I'll be much chipper when I get my painted ST spoiler put on. But yes - it seems that Ford is leaving the early adopters in the dust again.

This app has already worked with all MK3 Focus systems for ever. Just not the voice commands. But I've been using the app from my phone through the Bluetooth audio and the steering wheel controls work just fine, just not the voice part. Love the app though

Hi, everyone -
Like Ox-y-GenIII said, although voice commands are unavailable, you can still utilize this app without having AppLink. I do have good news for those of you with a GEN 1 system; we're planning to roll AppLink out to your vehicles! I don't have an ETA, but I promise to keep you in the loop. Jaclyn

Great to hear Jaclyn, Although as most members have said, Ford has been 'talking' of doing this for a while.
I'll wait for a release date before I get too excited. But thank you for the update. |

For what it's worth, I wouldn't sweat the lack of AppLink. I've got a 2013 SE, so I've got AppLink, and I never use it.
It's inconsistent about finding the apps on my phone (and has never worked with Pandora, which is the main one I'd want to use). Each app has different and not very logical commands: In the case of the new Amazon MP3 app, there's no PLAY command, and no way I could figure out how to make it start to play without first setting up a playlist so that I can ask for that playlist. Waste of my time. Consequently, I just use "Bluetooth Audio," which lets me advance to the next song with the steering wheel controls no matter what player I'm using. That works just fine. I think you'll find AppLink doesn't add anything else useful. |

Agree with c5karl. You guys aren't missing anything. I was really excited to see Amazon MP3 on the list of supported Applink apps when I first got my car, but had to wait until now for them to release the version that was actually supported (no clue why they claimed it was already supported when it wasn't). The voice commands for it are entirely useless. I haven't even been able to get it to successfully play a single song through applink. It will display the song title and sit there at 0 seconds of playtime if I do shuffle all, device or cloud (which are the only playability options not linked with playlists, and even then it's either a playlist or shuffle the playlist). If I manually start playing a song, it just freezes the entire phone for around 60-120 seconds and then asks me to send a crash report. Pandora works better, but it's far more of a "hey, look what I can do" factor than anything close to being truly useful.
