It's also like $8000 exclusive of the powertrain control module for the 2.0L EcoBoost GTDI engine as a crate engine from Ford Parts, so you'd be better off going with either the gen II duratec parts, or hoping to find a smashed up ST or Escape and hacking away at the corpse for the parts needed to run the swap.

But then you would need the computer or ECU out of the ST as well?

That's basically what I just said, but if you scavenged the entire wrecked ST to pull parts from (hoping it was a side or rear impact), you would have access to the entire wiring harness and powertrain control module.

It would be a more cost effective way of getting the parts to build a lowered compression engine with more head room to run up to peaks of 20 psig of boost pressure as in the stock ST or stock EcoBoost 2.0 L GTDI engine compared to the high compression NA motor with less head room.

I'm not sure if Roush had lowered the compression ratio any which is why they barely gained any power to 230 hp/210 lb-ft of torque with their concept supercharged Stage 3 Focus for SEMA 2011 and NAIAS 2012.

Vaccar also made a turbo'd focus. It's a Sedan! http://www.focaljet.com/sema-2012/se...3-3/index.html
Their's has nitrous though. It would be nice to turbo the n/a focus. It would be good for someone to make a thread that lists all the necessary components and/or tunes needed to turbo the n/a focus.

That sounds more like wishful thinking than an actual running engine unless they swapped in the complete drivetrain from the ST.

Quote:
Powertrain
Street Lethal Performance custom turbo kit
Street Lethal Performance front mount intercooler
SPA Turbo 500HP T3 Turbocharger
SPA Turbo compact wastegate
Ny-Trex EFI Dry nitrous system
Ny-Trex billet bottle bracket
DEI titanium turbo shield & exhaust wrap
Vibrant fabrication components
Turbo XS blow-off valve
The turbocharger might be good for 500 hp theoretically, but since they give no actual dyno data or actual evidence, and they claim to have used a 5MT not a 6MT it sounds like another SEMA show car that doesn't necessarily have to work, just look pretty.

The turbocharger is virtually useless without the tune as you don't have the same amount of headroom on a 12:1 compression car on pump fuel, especially without being able to adjust the power train parameters.

Doesn't sound like a turbo ever happened.

Speaking of forced induction...

Why don't we pursue what Rousch did and look into supercharging it? Not sure if anyone knows what they did for intake/exhaust but for small boost applications, why not? Don't even get me started on turbo vs supercharging I know pros and cons of each. Just the idea that they did it without changing the internals.

I'm thinking we just need to talk to the Gen 1 and Gen 2 owners who have pumped out 200+whp N/A. Look at some of the racing engines Cosworth has made out of the ford blocks!

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the roush supercharger was a fake unit anyway, for show only. It would be cool if a company made a mount for a small procharger.

Rumor was the Roush S/c was real but didn't run because they had no way to tune it. Once SCT or injected release tuning things may change.
