The problem is they don't photograph well - I'll be more interested in your written impressions.

For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281127244158...84.m1497.l2649

Those are reverse lights, but they look like headlights. I'm not sure I'd want my reverse lights to be that bright, but they probably don't put out that much glare in the daylight ...

Ok. Let me play around and see what I can do. I understand what you are saying but I'm hoping that I can do something that will show how they compare. I will also definitely say what I thought and what I went with.

Having photos of the stock ones in one side and the new ones in the other would help - since I can gauge what the stock bulbs look like.

Actually - I realized there are some simple tests you can do to help us both learn more about the LED lights.

I am most interested in the E-bay reverse LED's. For reference, these have a Cree projector lens and 18 Samsung SMD 5630 chips. I'm not sure if the Cree has more than one LED per chip, or how many chips it uses, and I don't think you can tell without destroying the bulb. The 5630 is one driver per chip (unlike the 5050 which has three, but the 5630 is suppose to be about 1.5x as bright as the 5050. So just the Samsung chips should be brighter than the E-bay taillight bulbs and the Cree's are supposed to be really bright.

Helpful tips:

If you don't have someone to help you (you are doing things alone):

- Of course, the parking lights work via the headlight switch, with or without the car running.

- If you want to turn on the brake lights, you can reach under the dash and press the pedal with your hand and remove the gray brake switch from the bracket. Turn it a quarter turn and it will drop out and the lights will come on (when you are in start or run - i.e. the HVAC fan is on). When you are done, hold the pedal down and just lock the switch back in.

- If you want to turn on the reverse lights, set the parking brake, put the car in run (HVAC fan starts) but don't start it, and shift it to reverse.

Requested tests:

Please remove the housing on one side and plug one bulb into the reverse socket and one bulb into the brake/turn/tail socket. (Don't put the sockets back in the housing yet.)

Turn on the parking lights and let me know what LED's are lit. (I'm not sure if any of the Cree's will be lit. My guess is maybe the six 5630's in the middle row will be lit only.

Turn off the parking lights and either turn on the brake or the reverse lights and let me know which lights are NOT lit now - it should be the same ones that were lit previously, but it might be hard to tell.

Put the car in reverse and turn on the brake and parking lights - let me know the difference in the brightness of the two LED's. They might be hard to tell apart, but the brake LED should be at least slightly brighter than the reverse LED.

Go ahead and put the bulbs back in the housing and take some pictures with the reverse and brake and parking lights on. (You could get better brightness and dispersion with red LED brake lights - but that will give me an idea what to expect.

Thanks for the help!!!

Ok, I got both sets in today.

When I get home from work I'll do as you asked. Once I install them, I'll use the daylight to take pics of which LED's are on and which are off. This will be better to see which ones are on for the 3157's in the tail lights. Then I'll also take pics of the signal/brake on to show the differences. After which, I'll install my load resistors and wait until night time.

At that point, I'll take pics of one set compared to the originals, then the other set. Then one final pic with both new sets compared to one another.

Hopefully that will be enough information to help you, and others, decide on their LED's.

Preliminary results:

In the daylight here are the following. My gf took the pics while I shifted into reverse and did the braking. All led's lit up, both parking bulbs and both reverse. When hiring the brake and turns, all led's got brighter.

That's preliminary and I got pics. I'm waiting until night time to take other pics for brightness. Tomorrow I'll link them up.

So with just the parking lights on, all LED's were lit (on Cree lights, the Cree projectors and all 18 of the Samsungs were lit?) If so, I guess they are dual-anode LED and have dual brightness settings.

(Not that it really matters to you, but not what I would have predicted would happen ...)

Below are the LED's with the sun just setting. You can't see how bright they get, obviously, but you can see which LED's light up when on and when the brake is pressed.
