False Floor/Sub Enclosure....Teaser Pics for now...

Well, I haven't been online a lot lately, between getting ready for my classes coming up, finding an apartment, a job, and just enjoying summer. However, I have finally had some time to get started on my new box.

Here it is so far. Ignore the somewhat sporadic screw placement on the left side...I couldn't match it to the other side, as one of the screws would have impaled another one underneath it.

Anyway, it seems pretty solid so far. I'm just waiting for the silicone to dry to keep working. Actual inner box volume, after accounting for the displacement of my sub's basket (Kappa Perfect 12VQ), comes out to just a hair over one cubic foot (like 1.0-1.1 ft^3, don't recall the exact value).

All material is 3/4'' MDF, secured with wood glue and 3''/2'' wood screws. The box portion sinks into the spare tire well, with outer dimensions of 16''x18''. Final floor height looks to be about 3'' or so higher than the original height. More pics when I get more done...

^^^^Off to the side where the audiophile sub/amp used to be. I plan on having a setup where the tire can go in/out easily for when I want it in (like long road trips).

Sweet...... maybe make another wood box but cover it with the same type carpeting in the rear, so it's not visible, but you can open it up when needed. of course it would be standing on it's side (so the wheel is standing up) kinda like that huh?

At most, I'll make a carpeted cover for the spare. I don't want another bulky/heavy MDF box in my trunk. I'll throw some more pics up tomorrow, once I have the amp rack made.

Alright, got some more work done today. The amp is now mounted, but I changed the design a bit. I talked to Infinity, and the amp is find upside down with some fan cooling, which I had planned anyway. It's mounted to the underside of the floor piece...fans go in tomorrow. I found some at Radio Shack for like $16 that are 12v.

Anyway...here's the pics.

Check this out....lol. With the old box, I heard something rattling around in my box, but never really checked it out. That's where that sidecutters went....
