No, you don't have to cut it out.

There is a how-to somewhere on here, but it doesn't really show you everything. But it is really simple. I can go outside and snap some more pictures, if need be. (Or make another How-To.)

EDIT: Okay, I am a bit bored today. I went ahead an went outside and snapped a few pictures.

We are removing the item circled in yellow. That is our resonator. Removing that gives us a nice noise around the 3-4k range.

First, disconnect your MAF sensor (Circled in red.) by pulling out the red tab on the bottom, then pulling straight out. Hang off to the side, which was already done in the picture. Remove the screws circled in green, then disconnect the hose in the blue circle. As soon as everything is out of the way, pull straight up. It should pop out of place.

On the side, there is one more screw. Unscrew it, then grab the tube and pull it out. It shouldn't take too much force to pull it out. I gave it a little turn and it pulled right out. Then put the screw back in the hole for safe keeping.
It should now no longer have a big tube on the side. It should look like this.

Reverse the first step to put everything back together, and voila. Resonator removed. Should look like this:

Adding a muffler in no way makes it louder lol wow. it will quiet it if anything. the sound is made by the airflow from the engine. More noise comes from less restrictions....

I think the "2nd" cat everyone is talking about is only a cat if you have a PZEV, otherwise its just a resonator. I could be wrong, but when I did my exhaust, it definitely was not a cat on my car!

You are not wrong. back when i did mine i got in a big argument on here with someone because they kept saying we had two cats. the pzez has two cats. all others have only the manicat followed by a resonator then muffler. Non sport exhaust models also have the lunchbox muffler. replacing the large muffler right after your flex with a high flow/straight through muffler will give you more sound, you will also need to have the stock resonator that is also there removed too. But simply adding a muffler to your current setup will not help you with your goal

Yeah so the air intake silencer is off. Not a huge difference in sound but does sound a bit better. Since i have the "sport tuned exhaust" any other easy ideas? Cant take off rear resonator because I don't have one :(

It came on all pzez models. Also i have heard of cases where non pzez models also had a second cat depending on the state where they purchased the car. I have learned one thing over the past few months on this forum. No matter what everyone thinks the set parts are that come with certain models of certain years, there are tons of cars out there that are exceptions. weather it be dealer request or location as the cause is unknown. There are so many inconsistencies. That is why the best thing to do for anything mod wise is visually verify your own car first for the given mods then check with many other people. pics if necessary

you do have one.... having the sport exhaust means you have no rear "lunchbox" muffler. You still have a resonator and another muffler further up in your exhaust.

Yeah ur right. So taking off the other resonator would be good? Just replace it with other piping?

Yes, have an exhaust shop replace the frontal muffler with a straight piece of pipe. See if that makes it lous enough for ya. If not, Get a Round magnaflow muffler online or buy mine after i take it off next week and have a muffler shop put it in the place of the resonator. They are a straight through design so it will give you a nice deep louder tone
