its called standalone engine managment. honda guys do it all the time. i dont see why it would be any different this time around.

Agreed 100%.
1. If you modified the suspension but your engine blew up, the warranty is still good and you better pay for it ford.

2. If you modify the handle on the door of said fridge and the compressor motor fail, yes you had better eat the repair cost of said broken fridge.

How is this not crackable? as long as there is not bruce force protection your fine. 1 this would be crackable if you had the computing power to try but I don't have a thousand dual quad machines available. However if you wanna tune it and don't care about your warranty then just flash over it. Anyone can reflash it with custom firmware but you won't be able to modify the current tune. I'm sure someone at ford will dump the current tune online somewhere for download and we can just tweak it.

I think this is now a moot point since you can now order an ST tune from various sources using SCT tech

All it takes is a factory programming engineer to sell the proprietary codes and the "unbreakable" PCM is breakable. The 6.7 diesel was "unbreakable" for what, 4 months?

A company called APR LLC is considering beginning R&D on ecoboost cars. They are a VW Audi firm, but VW Audi have been using Bosch MED17 PCMs for several years now. APR is able to bypass the built in security with OBD2 port flashing in a lot of cases, they can also bypass OEM security by directly reprogramming it through contact points on the pcb board. Check them out, they have been making 4 cylinder GTI's and Jetta's put down well over 350hp. The only other tuning company that comes close to what APR does is Dinan the BMW tuner.

APR Tuning is a giant in the industry. Their Audi/VW/Porsche tuning is top-notch.

I find this thread amusing. Almost as soon as the ST was being delivered to customers there were tunes available for them. There are at least 1/2 dozen outfits offering tunes via the SCT or Cobb OBD port tuning devices.

Yes, but this thread was started well before the ST was actually available for purchase and died off only about a month after it was.
