Focus Interior Help

I posted this over in the 1st Generation Forum, but I wanted to Post over here and get a more diverse opinion from focus owners. I have a 2002 Focus with the usual broken arm rest. I want to remove the console with the arm rest and replace it with one with the cup holders rather then the arm rest. Can anyone help me find some reasonably priced center console options that will fit a 2002 Focus lx. I spend a lot of time on the net, and having a hard time locating this part.

My other option was to take a band saw, or similar and cut the plastic about 6 inches down, where it connects to the arm rest, then maybe rinding some kind of rubber to put over it? What custom ideas can you think of for this?

I think you should look up your local pick 'n' pull salvage and junk yards... the prices for the stuff you pull yourself are WAAAAAY cheaper!

What is actually wrong with the armrest? Could be an easy .10 fix.

It just hangs down and is very unstable and makes it irritating driving. Seems like it has no support, the back sits up and front hangs down.

Oh ok, there is another problem that most run into, where the armrest doesn't latch. I would try a junkyard for a different center console. You could get on for a very reasonable price. If you cut yours, you would need to fiberglass it and re-shape it to make it look right. Prolly not worth the trouble.
