Focus SVT grinds going into second

So we autocross my wife's SVT Focus and she is not as agressive as I am with shifting. Under normal conditions just driving around it shifts fine. But autocrossing it at the limit with me shifting into 2nd at 7k rpm, it almost always grinds. I have adopted the wait 1 second and then shift mentality, but it acts like the clutch is not fully disengaging. We replaced the leaking clutch master cylinder last year. Bad clutch hanging up? Trans going? It looks like a previous owner has had the transmission out of the car. There is a bolt half-threaded into the engine block from the bell housing (looks to be cross threaded). I have to stay with a stock clutch configuration per the SCCA rules for STF class. Bad cable for the shifter? Any thoughts are welcome. I can do any work needed, just need to know where to look and in what order.

Disclaimer, I have drag raced my whole life and am used to slamming second gear in my Z06 while autocrossing.

It might just be that you have to wait for the sincros(sp) to engage. This was(is) an issue with the GT500 also.

I had same issue and going into second and it was the second gear synchro. New transmission being put on now. Do you notice it grinding when the car is cool or when you just start driving? I noticed mine was worse after it got warm.

It really sucks, but everybody is right. 2nd gear synchronizer or dog teeth are toasted.

Mine grinder going into third all the time....... Cold/warm whatever!!!!! The only way I could avoid the embarrassing grind was to wait till the rpm fell really low then engage the stick into 2nd for you 3rd for my old kona...... Damn thinking about that ride makes me appreciate my svtf that much more.........

Its not terribly difficult to replace, just take your time and be very organized.....also make sure you have torque specs.

Syncros seem to be the general consensus. But has anybody thought to suggest cheap fixes first? What type of Gear oil do you run in this car? I have heard of a lot of people running RP Syncromax in the SVT, which isn't the correct oil weight for correct operation of the Getrag, maybe try changing to a different gear oil? Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 is heavily praised, Redline MTL, or even just heading over to auto zone and getting some Mobil1 75w90 synthetic gear oil; I ran that stuff and had a good experience with it.

If the syncro isn't properly lubricated it certainly will grind if prematurely engaged.

I have not been able to find new parts. Where does one find new synchros for the SVT Getrag 6 speed to replace the old ones?
