Thank god you figured it out--- the hose was totally soft and colapsed. Saved me a bunch of $.

How hard is it to remove the rear hose (the one that connects to the manifold) from the other hard hose... I can see how to remove the hose from the manifold (and ive removed it before) but im just curious as to how the hose holds to the metal line (the part that actually connects directly with the pcv valve)..

all i saw in here was that you need to get the clamp off for the manifold side, but no info for the other side.. is it another similar clamp? does it just slide on?

I slit mine down the length of the metal tube with a knife. It peeled off rather easily. The new one pushed on with a little pleading and cussing... but thats how its gotta go, from what I saw.

my car seems to be sluggish from 1500 to around 26-2700 rpms but above that it is fine and pulls strong. never had a problem with it dying on me while idling though. SHOULD I STILL CHECK THIS HOSE OR IS IT A DIFFERENT PROBLEM I'M HAVING?

its not that hard to check... just reach back there and give it a pinch. smushy=bad, firm=good. You have an '03, so its probly bad (just a guess).

The sluggishness might be the small stock TB as well. IMO, with all your other mods, a 65mm tb has been long due. But I'd try the hose first if your budget is short. Most of my 1500-2500rpm bog vanished with the new pcv hose, and my new tb is in the mail! No more zetec falling on its face for me, I've had enough.

Besides all that, have you seen the dyno curves for our motors? 1500-2500 not so good. ~50hp, ~100 tq. I wouldn't be subjecting the engine to all that compression (at wot) at such low output... A blockage in the vacuum system (the flimsy hose that is the topic of this thread) surely doesnt help. Check it out, your car will thank you!

This should be a sticky

Mine was collasped also. However with my 195,000 miles who knows how long its been like that!!! I bought the oem hose. Broke off the old clamp ( kinda time consuming 10 minutes ) and resintalled new. When I started the car up is ran very rich? I havent driven it yet so if it doesnt striaghten out tomorrow I will pull a battery terminal off and let the car reset. 10 minutes I think I read to reset the computer as far fuel setup is concerned?

Anyway thanks a bunch. I have a low rpm stumble/miss under 2000. It comes as goes no rhyme or reason. Im certainly hoping this solves it for $20!

Mine had no hole just collapsed. You cant see from the engine area you have to pull it off to see it.

BOOYAA! this was it for me. mine didn't have a hole in it either, but it was totally broken down and colapsed. a local dealer had one in stock. i asked if he'd been replacing many of those...when he checked the records he showed he sold 0 in 04 and five last year. sounds like people/mechanics are catchin on to it.

thanks bwojdyla!
