Meh.
|
Im uploading them as we speak. :) So we went out there expecting to cut the crash bar on the corners. We realized there is no possibly way the crash bar would fit in the bumper....there was maybe a 2 inch gap from the back of the car to the beginning of the crash bar. To confirm this, we took the crash bar off and put the bumper on. We then got under the car and realized we were right. There was no way it would fit, unless you shaved it down to an inch thick. Which by then, there would be no structural support and no point to have the thing on anyways. lol So we had a dillemma. I was pretty mad, but I wanted it on. We then thought of an idea. We knew that if I even bumped into something going slow, the bumper would get punctured or bent without anything in there. We knew no matter what we did the bumper wouldnt do well in a wreck, but then again if I got rear ended I would still have to replace it anyways....lol So we took a piece of angle iron and cut it the size of the crash bar. We bent it a tiny bit and drilled holes to get it to fit. We grinded the sides down to the curve of the bumper. That way if I ever did back up into anything going slow, there is support there. Im happy with it. After that we put the bumper on in a few minutes. Oh and I filled the whole thing with foam so that will help some too if I ever hit anything. The stock crash foam was maybe an inch thick. I worked on it for an hour before I realized it wouldnt be needed. I think my bumper is different from your alls. It has the trim on the top...unless you all removed that. Maybe my car is just a ree ree. But regardless, its on and im happy. Ill post the pics in the next post.

My phone is so stupid....no matter how I take the pics it saves them sideways!
lol wonder what could be in the box......The UPS guy was like I have your car bumper. hahah ![]() ![]() ![]() Back when we were trying to figure out the foam... ![]() Notched this and bent it below the notch for the angle iron to work. ![]() Yep. lol This is the angle iron we used. I wrote that obviously. I deleted the pic accidently of it on the car...whoops. ![]() Will be getting the exhaust cut ![]() ![]() ![]() A bridge we finished. testing it with the suburban. lol ![]() Btw, we ran all of the wiring inside. We took all of the plastic off. I need to get the connector for it though...so the reverse light currently isnt hooked up. Oh does anyone know what the cap thing is on the middle right of the bumper? Its some sort of dummy cap covering a hole. lol

In the euro models the cap covers a tow point. You thread in a tow hook and Bam. Your towed.

Really makes me want to get mine painted but its not quite ready for that yet. Oh and there's the whole money thing too.
Looks good. Interesting to see the mouldings are black and match your hatch trim.

Looks real good!!!! Yeah my crash bar is prolly modded to the point of not being structural either. Now you need either the opposite lights or run clears on both sides, just like Blue5 said - tow point for euro, same as the round cover you see on the passenger front euro bumper.
