Ford Focus RS

I wonder if the RS engine from the European Model (turbo 5cyl) would drop right into a 2012? Would love to make a sleeper out of my sedan.

^^ True. It has some new tuning and internals with an upgraded turbo, that's about it.

If you really want to try that idea and save some money, find the VolvoC30 engine specs and compare it to your focus in terms of dimensions and mounting points.

The Volvo C30 is the exact same engine that is in the European Focus ST (not the new one coming out). That is also the same engine with tuning that is in the RS.

I looked into it once, but couldn't find a used C30 engine for less than $1500, not including Tranny.

The RS engine from the 09 or so RS is not the same as the ST. It is a 305HP 5 cylinder Turbo "The 2.5L turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine generates 300hp (224kW) at 6,500rpm and 325lb-ft of torque (440Nm)between 2,300 and 4,500rpm. Acceleration from a stop to 100km/h (62mph) takes just 5.9 seconds and the car carries on to a top speed of 263km/h (164mph). " http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...us-rs-revealed

The reason the rs is also faster is because it's one of the lightest fwd cars around weighing the same as a 1998 honda civic type R at 1050kg
(not sure how many pounds that is but it's pretty light)
