Cracking door stay/stop

Anyone else have their door stay/stops crack like this. Three out of four of mine look just like this. There appears to be some reinforced center to the unit. Just curious if any others looked like this and or have already broke.

The pics show up when I pull up the thread?? Anyone else not seeing them?

Now that is weird, they don't show up now, but the links are still shown in edit mode???

Now they are back? Might be an issue with my hosting site?

I just tried it using IE and got little boxes with X's in them. I have no problem seeing the images with Firefox. It may be IE keeping you safe, as linked files/images can be a source of trouble.

Mine are definitely not doing that. I wonder if it's really an issue though, since it appears from the pics that they have a metal core, is that right?

I very rarely open my door all the way, do you? I was thinking this could be due to some stretching of the strap...

It appears to be some sort of metal core, but the outer material seems metal like also. If I can open the door all the way it probably gets opened all the way. I am 6' and 230 lbs. I know one time the wind did rip the door out of my hand upon opening, getting out of the car, which might explain the driver door, but two of the other three look just the same and they see very little use.

Yeah, I agree that it would possibly explain the one on the driver's door, but shouldn't apply to the other two...

I went out and double-checked mine, and there are no cracks. I'm pretty certain that the black outer material is a hard, possibly nylon-reinforced plastic molded around the metal inner core. I can even see the mold lines in the material clearly in your pictures.

Perhaps the difference between yours and mine is environmental? The dry, hot air you have in AZ may have caused it to shrink slightly, vs. the humid air I have here. Regardless of the cause, I would be more concerned if the thick portion were cracked, as that is where the detents for the door's "half-stops" are. If there were cracks there, it would cause roughness in the operation of the door.
