Heated windscreen, Modded and working

Hi all,

just fitted a heated screen to my ford focus, as it was cracked, original screen was non-heated.

No wires where present, but installed wiring relays etc, all in and protected by fuses.

Any one need a guide?

Stevie

Hi Stevie

Yeah, I would be interested in a guide. All the threads I have found are people asking if the wiring is already there or not and very little answers!

Thanks - Kevin

You guys and your heated windscreens, would have been a nice option to have available in the states. I've seen many a winter day where it would be nice to just be able to de-ice the front windscreen, jealous...

I would be interested in a how-to on this. Maybe it would be possible to add one to the U.S. Focus.

What? You mean to say that across the big pond got stuck with a slightly inferior body style AND a heat windshield? I didn't even know there was such a thing...

Yes, I would love a guide! Fingers crossed that it is possible to add to a USA knock off.

Wiring for windscreen

hi, all you are doing is using the feed from the rear window to also power a new relay, i mounted my relay (40a job) near battery, and with nice heavy feed wires to the wing. I fed the relay coil wire through the rear of the glove box with stiff wire and pulled it through, The relay then closes two fused spur(s) which are conjoined at the relay output, from the battery to the left and right side of the heated window. Thats it, the good thing about that is it has the timer in it as the heated window is a timed switch, so it switches off and on with the rear de-icer element. I Don't have a schematic but can put one together if you don't catch what i'm saying.

Yes I miss the heated windscreen option when I was in Europe. I am still trying to source one here in the US. Wiring is not an issue, the windscreen is. I am curently looking in Mexico for one.

Yes please do a write-up on how to install this. I would love to hunt down the windscreen if I ever need to replace it again. I already have the buttons.

These were available in Canada correct?

i have never seen a heated one in Canada. and all Canadian SVT have the winter package, so its not part of that.

speaking of things heated, i wish we had a heated steering wheel. the seats are nice to have, but i want the wheel
