How do I sand Paint off carbon Fiber?

Hey I'm not sure where this question belongs, maybe washing and detailing? but I settled here.

anywho, i just picked up a carbon fiber hood that someone took a spray can too and painted black. It was a decently low price so i decided I would try it out.
What kind of procedure should I take to get this black paint off?
Do i just wet sand until the black is gone? Is Wet sanding with a power sander safe? What grit should I start with/use? i want the whole hood to be down to the clearcoat. From the clearcoat I know how to build it back up to shine, its just getting down to it....

Thanks everyone!

i would use 800? ---1000, 1200, 1500

and i would do it by hand cause you could burn the clearcoat with sander..

btw: have you tried a rubbing compound

Rattle can? why bother sanding, apply gasoline, it won't hurt the CF and will dissolve rattle can paint like the phoenix sun eats a snowcone. Carb cleaner (laquer thinner) can be used if applied with a damp rag and rubbed off but most of your rattle can paints don't hold up to gas and it'll slogh off

but if its thick rattle can then it just gets sticky and spreads all over like glue. Not worth it. Maybe on a small part that was canned, but not a big ole hood.
thanks for the info guys, keep it coming

Yea, but why did he paint over carbon fiber? Is there maybe something wrong with the carbon under the black paint?

No no, no smoking, esp when misusing gasoline.

If its genuine enamel, two part urethane, or any good automotive paint, its completely impervious to gasoline and moderate exposure to laquer thinner. But rattlecan krylon isn't resistant to much besides water. I mean there's talk of taking paper covered with small rocks and abrading the surface into oblivion.

O, you would figure it would look better carbon fiber against a all black car? To each his own.
