The dealer's system might be different but it should be Sequence Definition #3, that will include the ETC freeze frame data along with any DTC codes in all modules in the vehicle.

I have had a 'traction control fail once myself. it was annoying and stupid. the traction control is not very sophisticated.
So far one time,
and at least now i know about it.. so if any water or snow on street .. mashing the go pedal is a no-no.
Sometime electronic throttle is annoying.

Yes, of course.

However, when the MIL is illuminated, freeze frame data should be recorded in memory.

Are you absolutely certain that freeze frame data was recorded even if no malfunction was detected?

Perhaps you should ask the experts in your building.

I am an expert in my building, 20 yrs as an engine calibrator, however there are engineers that do ETC calibration exclusively, which I don't.
The dealer should know how to get 'ETC Freeze Frame Data'.
The data should indicate if there was an intermittent failure, reset, out of voltage issue and others. There was an issue with an 08 Edge where the freeze frame indicated a reset issue that produced no codes. Wiring issue with PCM. Yours sound a bit different that would probably be good to investigate.
Just trying to help, do what you want.

Wasn't able to make it to the dealership today. Going to shoot for sometime next week. Need to plan a day with nice weather so I can drop the car off, then ride the bike into work. Courtesy shuttle doesn't cover enough miles to get me there (~32 one way from the dealership of choice to the office).

I'll be sure to have them pull the freeze frame data and forward it along to the hotline. I'll also post here as I work through the issue.

Wife showed up at home on Friday with a Chevy Traverse on a "24hr no hassle test drive). Very similar to the GMC Yukon we traded in on the Focus. Not sure we want to incur any additional debt at this time, and there are a ton of other small items to work out as well. The Focus might become a "moot point" so to speak for us.

Thanks for the help thus far though. I'll be sure if nothing else to post what resolution we end up with.

Out of curiosity, how much fuel did you have on board at the time of the occurrence?

Fuel was around 3/4 full or so. Filled up the day before and had 100ish miles or so on the tank.

Nope. Same Shell 93 fuel from the same neighborhood Circle K station

*edit* OBD2 data shows 9.8% ethanol for those interested although that should have zero to do with the current issues.

Will be calling the dealership this morning to setup an appointment for Wednesday morning to have them look at it.

Anyone know the policy on loaners or rentals over this kind of thing?
