Hey guys, I am currently in the same situation as the OP in that I love my new car and it is loaded with every option I could want, except the navigation. I have been searching all over for a solution that will allow me to have it added in, but it seems that this is still not allowed by Ford at this time. The good news is that us with an iPhone are going to be getting turn by turn navigation in upcoming IOS 6 which seems like it will play nice with My Ford Touch.

Hey, Mooch -

Are you familiar with SYNC Services? If you're the original owner, you should have received a complimentary 3-year subscription. SYNC Services allows you to access turn-by-turn directions, news, traffic, weather, sports, and my personal favorite, a daily horoscopes. :)

For an overview, check out:

http://Support.Ford.com/sync-technol...-overview-sync

Another option is our Send to SYNC feature. This lets you find businesses and addresses from MapQuest and sends the directions to your vehicle through SYNC!

For instructions, see:

http://Support.Ford.com/sync-technology/send-to-sync

Let me know if you have any questions.

Jaclyn

Everyone makes more money.
Keep going. The APIM is listed on fordparts.com for $1062 for the parts alone. You can't order it though...the part requires a dealership to order it, and my local dealership said it requires a VIN # and serial # of the current APIM that is to be replaced. If they ever choose to sell it aftermarket, it would be using that number. Add in another $100 for labor (since even unscrewing and screwing 4 screws would easily be half a day's work for a Ford tech) and they'd probably advertise it for $1200 for fun.

Err...sure there is. One of the techs at my local dealership accidentally used the wrong codes when resetting "my friend's" MFT system and it was set for use with navigation. After dropping in a friend's valid navigation SD Card (from a different 2012 Focus) the navigation screens popped up and worked perfectly.

What this means, for the layperson, is that a simple re-flash of the system is all that would be required to enable navigation. Luckily they realized their mistake and re-flashed the MFT system again back to the non-Nav version. Really awesome since I ordered a Titanium *WITH* the nav system and got screwed on the order. Ford's awesome customer service strikes again by basically telling me "too bad".

Now it's as if you're trying to punk us lol SYNC turn-by-turn directions are almost dangerously horrible. Even with a good voice connection (which doesn't happen when you often need the directions most -- out in the country) it can take upwards of 30-60 seconds to get directions when calling. Unless you put the car in park and wait until it's done that's an obscene amount of time to have to wait for directions. Then I hope you don't miss a turn or make a wrong turn...the system has to once again take that amount of time to re-acquire directions after a route change, unless you can magically find your way back to the route (which is nice and hard in cities with one-way streets).

And can you comment on the reasoning for no more "Send to SYNC" from Google Maps? A relatively low number of people use MapQuest for a reason...it's horrible. Google maps is updated *FAR* more often, is *far* more accurate, and is ubiquitous in the world of technology.

My problem is that I got completely screwed by the dealership when ordering but there wasn't much I could do because I needed a car at the time. The dealership worked together to hide the fact that the car didn't have *ACTUAL* navigation until I had signed the paperwork (even going as far as showing me the "Navigation" item on my VIN tag and telling me that the only reason the maps didn't show up was because the car wasn't yet moving). They even said "we'll go look for your SDCard while you're signing...and then after signing the paperwork informed me that the car didn't come with one. Nothing pisses me off more than people working to hide something for their own benefit, and then knowing an *EASY* fix is possible but it can't be done because, once again, people are working for their own benefit. Ford could remedy this situation in 5 minutes by replacing my MFT system (and I'm more than happy to pay), but they refuse because they have to stick to their arbitrary "rule".

Completely ridiculous, horrible business, and morally unsound. This is the exact way to push consumers away from your product. You'd think with all of the negative press Ford has already received about the MFT system they'd be willing to do whatever it took to please their customer base.

No need, as you pointed out a simple reflash did it. No need for a new APIM. Selling it for the listed price when you buy the car new is realistic.

They might, but if people found out they could get their module re-flashed for the $700 very few people would get it at purchase time. Ford knows this. At that point there would be absolutely no downside to waiting until you see a need for it. Ford will never allow a simple "reflash" for the same price as the cost at purchase.

One time, I was out of town on business and relied on Sync Services. I seriously tried to "download" directions over 20 times sitting in an airport parking lot (my project was at the airport, it wasn't a rental car) and everytime "Call Disconnected, download did not complete, would you like to try again?"

20+ TIMES. Finally, I called into tech support and they had me reset the system, and finally it downloaded. Later that night, ready to leave the hotel for dinner, and "Call Disconnected, download did not complete, would you like to try again?" 5 Times and I gave up.

Metro St. Louis, strong cell signals on verizons network.

That system is a joke. I will never rely on it again.

GIVE US REAL NAV FORD! ILL PAY YOU (hint: you are in business to make money).

Anyone have a drawing?
Any chance you'd be able to get the part # from that MFT module and PM it to me? Nobody seems to know the part # for it and I'd need it to order it from a Ford dealership.

I just bought this setup on eBay from a junkyard.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190888200943...84.m1497.l2649

Installed it in about 30 minutes. Bought an A4 card, did the sync update for my Focus, not for the one from the junkyard and everything works. I now have nav in my 2012 Titanium! Thanks Mrlandy, your post were correct it definetly works!

Very nice, now you can add a backup camera to complete the install. See my posts.

So.. after reading all this information, my question is this: If I have no Nav on my car but have MyFord Touch/Synch, can I add NAV at a later time, yes or no?
