You don't need to do anything special with the Svt versus the regular Zetec. Just make sure when the belt is off, nothing inside the engine moves (at least if you timing isn't off to start with).

This may sound like a dumb but i'm new to the 4cyc tuner world.

How does the VCT work on the svt zetec and does it advace and retard both intake and exhaust?

Vct is only on the intake cam.

Does it work off of oil pressure kinda of a clutch pack on the cam gear or is it electric?


I just love to know how things work.

I just love to know how things work.
It uses an electric solenoid to feed engine oil from the top end into the VCT unit and adjust the advance of the cam.

this is actually incorrect, there is an extra step to set the VCT gear once the camgear is locked into it's correct location.

There is someone on FJ that is finishing up editing of a video HOW-TO for SVT's specifically......

The member that wrote this thread has done over 20 timing belt swaps on SVT's and is pretty much the godfather of successfully DIY'ing your own belt change

I would use the one that benjaminj6 found.

It is the Ford Manual one specifically for the SVT Focus.

I went ahead and added it to the How-To Archive as well.
