When I was a ford mechanic, if I saw a leak I would track it down then go to the customer and let them know exactly what is leaking (at no charge to them) and try to get them to buy the service to fix their car... At firestone, their policy is to inform the customer that there is an oil leak then charge you $22 to find out where it is coming from, then do the service. That's not how a company builds the trust of their customers. Needless to say they didn't get my business.

This week is bad timing for me to track it down, it's fairly fresh so it won't be too hard, it's just that my jack scares the sh!t outta me and I'd rather use my ramps that I can't fit on. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday after my interview.

Ford charged me $60 to tell me that my truck's radiator had a leak in it, even though I had to bring it in twice and told them both times where it was leaking from

Yeah, there are a lot of places out there that tend to focus more on making money now rather than providing good customer service in order to actually keep your customers and grow the business.

That's exactly how my new company operates.

I'm going to my old dealer tomorrow and get an oil change. I'll just get under the car on the lift and check it out with them. I'll have to pay a little extra than firestone, but I'll get better oil and they will top off and check all my fluids and help find the source of the leak.

Went to my old dealer and got the oil changed, the guy put in oil dye at no charge and told me to come back next week and we'd check out the leak. This is why I don't like to burn my bridges when I leave a job.

Also, my rear disk brake setup is basically complete. Got everything all cleaned up, cleaned off all the rust and grime, painted my dust shields, I even used a tap and die to clean out the bolt holes. If I put them on my car or not all depends on if I get this job tomorrow. If I don't, I did a lot of work for whoever would care to purchase a complete rear disk conversion that will not over-power the stock front disks! An OEM replacement of the drums for a car without SVT front brakes!

I do! Well, kinda. They basically called dibs on me by telling me that they will place me into a position. I scored really high on my aptitude tests and they want to put me into a mechanical position but they don't want to put me in a position that I'm over-qualified for. They said that it might be a couple weeks before I can start, it might even be a month, but that's unlikely. They just have to find a position for me. I'm really excited to start, it just sucks that they don't have something for me now, but I'm not going to complain. I'll just keep sucking up the unemployment until I get a paycheck.
