Oil for a Turbo SVT
What brand/ weight of oil do you guys use? I live in Michigan and we have a cold winter. I don't know if that will effect your answers, but I thought i would throw it out there.

I use to run mobil1 10w-30, but have switched to Royal Purp 10w-30 now. i would run royal purp 5w-30 for colder weather

RP just isnt worth the extra money in my opinion You dont see nascar , cup or any of the race guys running it unless there given the oil and sponsored by RP that says a lot, I would go with Mobile1 and cool areas I would do 30 or 40 wt and hot areas I would do 40 or 50 wt with turbo and running it hard

Cuz we are young and dumb. I just sent my ball bearing turbo into turbonetics for inspection and they said the middle housing is getting really hot and causing the oil to coke. Maybe a flawed tune causing the car to run lean and run up EGT's. They recommend that I have them install provisions for a water cooled system. They are rebuilding the turbo and replacing all the bearings and center housing. They will machine provisions for the W/C system for the same price as sending me the turbo just how I sent it to them. The kit that they provide with hose and fittings and clamps and all is an extra $155. OR...I could build my own kit of fittings and hose. Any thought? Tom??
