2 1/4. Ill get one up soon, gotta find something that isnt my phone to record it
if you do the swap your 2 1/4 choice wont be such a good one. you're going to eventually wanna go 2.5 or possibly 3", depending on your routes with the car you take. My SPI had a cracked cylinder @ 99k, fourth cylinder i believe. swap a 2.3 l Duratec in it or svt motor. Are you swapping the tranny too, if u swap the motor? I'd def swap your suspension out with a new Ford Racing suspension, or an SVT. I did that and I was quite satisfied. If you're keeping your SPI, it's also going to be heard to do a header for your car. I bought a zx3/zx5 header, cut the flange off, and had a flange made at a shop. The UDP escort Focus makes was a good mod for the $. I believe they're still around. I made a CAI with two generic Mandrel kits on ebay. all you need is a cutting wheel and a decent eye.

Is the 2 1/4 that inferior? Yeah, I think I'm definitely going with a swap, maybe the SVT, not sure though. Depends on the price I can find it all at. And yeah, I'll definitely swap the tranny. My plan is to save enough to where I can instantly turbo the engine I'm dropping in. I definitely want to try that $250 SPI turbo set up that was stickied, just for fun. How much is the Ford Racing suspension?? That could be a possibility. adjustable springs came with the car, but not sure if I'll even want more. What about the normal Zetec swap? Just dont waste my time with it??

dont go with the svt... go with the normal zetec or duratec. svt parts are so hard to find and everything is very expensive. duratec is a great engine! and responds very well to bolt ons and boost in the future

Do the duratec 2.3l. Ur talkin about doin the 250$ spi turbo. Can I ask why? Use that money on ur swap. Yes the 2 1/4 im reallll sure qill need to be upgraded to a bigger size.
I would get the svt suspension and swap that in. people sell theirs used on here all of the time. Any zx4 exhUst will fit ur car.

Is it pretty cheap to find normally?? I dont want to have to save for 10 years to get a new engine!

Eh, just for the learning experience, not a definite, but seems like fun. How much does the SVT suspension go for? Ill wait on the exhaust, paid money for this one, definitely want to get my use out of it

Wow, sounds like a sweet deal. It seems like it's going to be hard to find a cheap donor for the engine around where I live, one place wanted $950 for the engine and tranny off of a zx3 that had 100k+ miles on it. Might have to go out of town. So I guess the only question is, should I try to find the duratec or just stick with the zetec? I know it seems like you answered it before, but I want to make sure I know what I'm looking for. Zetec seems like it would be more common and cheaper

Oh, and what about the ST suspension? Any differences?

Have you checked or priced out any Zetec or Dura-tech car's vs a motor swap?

I only checked the pricing for the motor/tranny. I've been told by a few people around here that the place I got the quote at(Economy Auto Parts) tends to jack their prices, so I'm going to look around a little bit when I have more time and am not working 60 hrs in a week. I think I might take a little bit and turbo the SPI still, just because it shouldn't be too expensive with that DIY thread, seeing as how my car only has 55k original miles, I got some time before I think about the swap too much more.

Edit: So a friend and I were talking yesterday, and he brought up the V8 swap, either the 4.6 or the 5.0. Seems like a lot of fun, but exponentially more money. Any thoughts compared to the Zetec/Duratec?
