Is it leaking coolant? Could be smelling that. Do a compression check. A house could have melted when it got hot. Like I said have someone from on here look at it. I don't trust shops to work on my car. Ford dealers are even sometimes iffy on proper try know what they are doing. They told me my Svt had a duratec.....

It really wasn't leaking anything except some blackish water from the lunchbox muffler. The radiator water was brown/rusty.

Hey man, don't give up! I know what it's like to have one thing after another go bad in an SVT. Just do as much troubleshooting as you can to figure out what's wrong with it.
I've read that it's been difficult to find someone with knowledge of the car to help you work on it, but there has to be someone around there that can help you. I've had terrible luck bringing my SVT to Ford dealerships, but maybe you'd have better luck bringing it by. Good luck and keep us updated!

You have to approach this logically, which hasn't happenned so far.
You say it's running hot. How do you know? Temp gage reading high or hearsay? Fan coming on?? Thermostat?? Easy fixes. Smells burnt. Is the front of the engine full of oil? My valve cover was leaking horribly, letting oil run down the front of the engine. Person selling to me had powerwashed the engine, so I didn't know until I drove it home on the freeway. New valve cover gasket....easy fix, even for the inexperienced. Big thing is whether you have driven it as it was overheating, which could blow the headgasket and/or warp the head. Fix the overheating and then see if it uses coolant. If you want to get the most help. Give us factual information, not yours or even the mechanics diagnosis. Like temperature gage reads at max......coolant boiling over......coolant being used......stuff like that. Not engine fried. Good luck. Let's start over on this. |

Maybe I was being a little irrational. I apologize. Will hopefully have Josh or someone with expertise in the Focus to come take a look before I write it off!
At Mile30 - the cars now at my parents place in Poolesville, south of Buckeystown. The shop was Poolesville Tire and Auto. I used to date a girl out in Keymar, know exactly where Westminster and Taneytown are at!

The getting hot could be your fans not working. Ours did the same thing. It was the resistor had gone bad. Throttle sticking could be the throttle getting caught on the intake clamp. That was what was causing ours to stick. Not sure what the burning smell is but sounds like something is rubbing. You'll have to let us know when a good time to come up is. Text Josh or something. He is off work on Sundays and Mondays.
