Exclamation quick tire question!

I REALLY need new tires.. so i think im going to go tomorrow and get some...
i called a Discount Tire Co. near me, and the guy there said he would get me 4 Pirelli P6 Four Seasons (out the door) for $400 (and thats installed)... but i wasn't sure if Pirelli's are a good tire
im kinda looking for a tire that will last longer that the OEM Firestones i had (practically BALD @ 25k miles)... im not a street racer, i don't need Ultra Preformance tires... and i live in Michigan, so in proly a month there is going to be snow...
so now taking note of my postition, are the Pirelli P6 Four Seasons a good tire for me (and for the price)??

here is a link to the tire on Discount Tire's site...
http://www.discounttire.com/dtc/find...=007278&cs=205
and here is a pic of the tire

Tire rack doesn't rate them very highly.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....6+Four+Seasons
Specifically, snow traction, noise, and tread wear are marginal.
You can read the reviews in that link as well.
Look for the ones from people with comparable cars to get an idea.

And, here's a link to comparisons of tires that fit in the same category.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=HPAS
The P6-Four Seasons is kinda low on the list.

ok well another question, what sizes will fit my car? i have the 16 aluminum wheels (OEM) the tire says 205/50/16... the guy at DiscountTire said thats the only tire that will fit... and that 205/55/16 and 205/60/16 were too big and they would rub? is that true?
thanks for the help

205/55/16's will most certainly fit your wheels, as well as not rub.
In fact, that's one of the most popular sizes to run on an SVT for winter tires,
on stock rims like you have.
However, keep in mind, they are 8/10" taller, which will throw your speedometer off.
The 60series will be WAY taller.

Here's a good calculator for checking tire sizes.
http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp
It also shows how much your speedo will be in error.

Is there a reason you want taller tires?
Or, you just want bigger, meaning wider?

Their are several tires from many manufacturers that have 205/50/16.
I have a set of Bridgestones, but not what you want.
The P6 is a very old design and never has been noted for wear. It is what came on BMWs 15 years ago.
They are also not noted for winter.
Take a look at Falken, Bridgestone, Khumo, who all have several tires that fit.
Tirerack has a good comparison system, use it.

I looked for awhile and these were the best rated high perfomance all season tires I could find. I got them but have not drove on them enough to give you a informed comment on them. Give me about a week and I can give my opinion then.
