headliner creaking, detachment from roof

I am getting occasional creaking and squeaking from the headliner in my 2012 Titanium with sunroof. Upon closer inspection it appears the headliner is hanging nearly one inch below the actual roof. If I push up I feel some tacky glue try and grab the headliner, then it falls away.

Am I correct in assuming the headliner is supposed to be glued to the roof, and the glue has failed? Anybody experience this?

Hi lifespeed,

Have you made an appointment to have this looked at by your dealer? I'd like to put you in touch with your regional customer service manager, who is in the best position to assist. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, as well as servicing dealership and appointment time; I'll get the ball rolling.

Todd

I have made an appointment with the dealer. Sounds like this is a common problem.

Common issue. It's caused by flimsy clips and a terrible adhesive. If you push up on the headliner you should definitely hear the sound of it sticking and then peeling away again. It would rattle pretty bad in front of the sunroof as well.

My dealer did a great job and now it doesn't rattle or give at all if I push on it.

Dealer put in a new headliner, so this issue is fixed. No rattle after a week of driving.

On to the DCT issues . . .

I brought my focus in for a oil change yesterday and asked them to look at the headliner because of this exact problem. They said there was nothing they could do because the other focuses on the lot were the same way. I'm at 30100 miles too (although it's been like this since the day i bought it) Guess they don't really care since i'm past the 30k mark.

Hey daemoniscinxi,

I'd like to connect you with your regional customer service manager, who'll work with your dealer to come to a solution.. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, as well as servicing dealership.
